7-11 Drupal Versions Built and Migrated

I have been building Drupal sites for over sixteen years, from single-owner business sites to federal platforms serving tens of millions of people. That range is the point: the same developer who can stand up a small site quickly has also worked inside the review processes a government platform demands.

What I build

  • Custom modules written to Drupal standards, not bolted on
  • Custom themes and Twig templating, built from design comps rather than assembled from an off-the-shelf theme
  • Content migrations, including moves off Drupal 7 and off non-Drupal systems entirely
  • Version upgrades through Drupal 11
  • REST and JSON:API integrations with third-party services
  • Caching strategy, performance work, and technical SEO

Federal and enterprise scale

As part of the COREONYX development team I worked on the SSA.gov national Drupal relaunch, consolidating roughly 70,000 pages down to 3,500, achieving a 90% reduction in overhead and on-time delivery across the project. At Arch Systems I built the Drupal 10 platform behind the NIH BRAIN Initiative, including real-time data visualization. At Center for Sustainable Energy I built EnergyCenter.org from the ground up and maintained the program sites running alongside it.

Work at that scale is less about writing clever code and more about surviving review: accessibility audits, security processes, and documentation good enough that the next team can maintain what you left behind.

Smaller builds

Not every project needs that machinery. A good deal of my work is ground-up Drupal for businesses that simply need a site which is fast, maintainable, and does not fall over when someone edits it. The same standards apply, scaled to fit.

Working together

Available full-time, part-time, contract, freelance, or as a subcontractor through an agency. Remote across the United States, with occasional on-site work in the San Diego area. The FAQ covers how engagements usually run, or you can get in touch directly.
