About this project
I built and maintained the Energy Storage Permitting Guidebook throughout my time at Center for Sustainable Energy, from 2018 to 2021. CSE developed the guidebook to standardize permitting for small-scale battery storage across California, giving local permitting agencies and installers consistent guidance on codes and standards instead of a patchwork of city-by-city processes. CSE led project management, stakeholder engagement, and research for the guidebook, and continues running related workshops and training. The result has been lower installation costs, less administrative burden for installers, and faster statewide deployment of energy storage. I handled everything from the initial build to ongoing content updates and maintenance.
